In the late 80’s and early 90’s Sydney had a large range of waterside warehouses and bond
stores that became obsolete with the advent of the shipping container. Not unlike the
wharf areas of the UK and the US, Sydney had its Walsh Bay area located in the middle
of the city. These spaces were converted for a variety of mixed
uses including; warehousing, offices, storage and art spaces. With the rejuvenation and
conversion of the Walsh Bay area into stylish apartments and offices, in the new
millennium the stage was set and the demand had been recognised for convenient, accessible
and professional storage solutions within the CBD area. The business name was changed to
CBD Storage in 2001 to reflect our unique location.
With many long term relationships developed between city corporates, businesses and
residents, space needed to be found to satisfy their needs. The first
CBD Storage facility was built in Sydney, located in the heart of the retail precinct; known
as Pitt Street Mall. This facility at 400 George Street in a clean ambient environment
provides serviced storage for business, retail and residents who are restricted by space in
their current premises. Over time, more services have been added to assist in improving
the storage experience, with customised storage fit-outs, offsite stock rooms for retailers,
delivery and collection service, tracking systems, document archiving and destruction,
pick’n’pack distribution and packaging materials.
The newest facility at World Square includes a retail shop to provide a complete range of
storage products and five underground levels of drive up storage units with state of the art
surveillance, security systems and remote unit monitoring.
